Business Issue:

Aligning our Leadership Development Programme to our Action for Growth Strategy.

Solution Applied:

For our financial year 2013 Leadership Development Programme (LDP), we introduced Action Learning Teams to support the execution of our business strategy. The Leadership team selected three targeted areas for growth from the business strategy. Each team was assigned one of these areas and challenged to research it thoroughly. The teams had to present their recommendations to members of the Ireland Leadership Team and address
questions.

One of the overall objectives of the LDP is to support people in developing their career. As an organisation we are committed to the continuous development of our people. This LDP fully supports our Talent Management plan in which we work to ensure employees are empowered, enabled and excited to build their career in Accenture.

This LDP has been shared with other Accenture teams and has since been introduced in Prague.

Stakeholder Benefits:

Team members were aligned to topics outside of the scope of their day-to-day roles, which provided them with an opportunity to broaden their business knowledge. This was an important outcome in helping to develop them as leaders by ensuring they are more commercially aware.

Tip:

Senior Manager engagement in the selection of the Action Learning Team
projects is key to ensure alignment to the business strategy and the objectives
of the LDP.
