Traveller Employment Programme

 

The BITCI Traveller Employment Programme is the latest initiative from our Award Winning Employment programmes and it supports Travellers to gain and sustain meaningful work over the long term.

We offer a flexible and supportive approach, shaped by the goals and circumstances of individual participants.

A tailor-made programme can help participants identify their career plans and achieve their employment goals and we do this through one-on-one coaching sessions and group workshops.

The programme is funded by the Community Foundation for Ireland.

How we work

We partner with local Traveller organisations and businesses. In line with our Elevate, Inclusion Workplace Pledge we aim to deliver on our commitment to help businesses increase diversity and inclusion in their workplaces and to create long term connections between the Business and Traveller communities.

The Traveller Employment Programme services include

  • 1:1 career coaching and personalised career planning
  • Help with job applications, CV and LinkedIn profile
  • Interview coaching
  • Progression into education, training, enterprise or volunteering
  • Support to transition into employment (Social Welfare payments, tax, HR)
  • In-work support
  • Regular career workshops, often delivered by business partners
  • Access to extensive business links and network building

What the programme can offer participants:

  • Support to secure and start employment
  • Continued in-employment support

 

Recruitment for the programme is continuous and applications are always welcome. We are happy to meet with any services to speak with participants and/or staff about the programme directly.

To be eligible for the programme you must be:

  • A member of the Traveller Community
  • Over 18
  • Interested in work
  • Open to all including those on Social Welfare payments or CE Allowance. Your payments are not affected.

  • Initial phone call set up to discuss the programme and complete an application form
  • Registration: meet with our Career Coaches to discuss if the programme is a good fit for you
  • Work with a Job Coach on CV preparation, Interview Skills and Job Seeking
  • Attend business-led group training
