Time to GROW Programme

This has come about thanks to funding from basis.point.  We know that many companies already run some amazing work experience programmes for TY students.  In BITCI we are reaching out and asking companies to offer at least two spots on their TY programmes to students in DEIS schools.  The schools we work with in Dublin are all School Completion Programme schools.  This programme will support students who most need quality work experience pathways.

The daa hosted students from St. Finian’s CC at Dublin Airport. Students shadowed members of the Commercial Team yesterday and visited the airside areas, lounges, DAC new buildings and had a full terminals tour with the advertising team. They also were the operations team who manage the running of both terminals.
Students were given an overview of the daa businesses, careers at the airport the communications team and got hands on experience of the soft skills needed to succeed in the working world.

Our goal is to place 100 students on work experience in the current academic year.   We know given the Diversity and Inclusion strategies and priorities in so many businesses that this is a great opportunity for a business to support that strategy.

If you are interested in participating this year or plan to support the programme next academic year you can contact our BITCI Work Experience Coordinator – Paula Brady pbrady@bitc.ie (there is no cost to companies to participate in this programme)

Summer Work Placement Programme 2023

BITCI with funding from basis.point and in partnership with Irish Funds are relaunching the Summer Work Placement programme.  This programme provides paid summer work placements for Leaving Cert students from the North East Inner City (NEIC).  The goal is to place 20 students on summer work placements this summer for 6-8 weeks.

The class of 2023 have had to deal with many challenges while in secondary school.  Unfortunately, many have missed out on work experience opportunities because of the pandemic.  The relaunch of this programme will provide students with access to career paths outside their existing network.

The feedback from participating companies in previous years has been extremely positive.  Company feedback cited the greatest benefits were the contribution to the companies CSR strategy and the positive impact the students had on their assigned team.  Supporting this programme is an opportunity to provide students with the tools and experience they need to succeed in their careers.

We are now looking for businesses in the Dublin1/2 area who would be interested in participating in the 2023 programme.  BITCI will manage and administer the programme.  If you are interested in finding out more about the programme you can contact our BITCI Work Experience Coordinator – Paula Brady pbrady@bitc.ie
