The Worker of the Future Sub-Group was created in response to the need to develop a view on the responsible business approach to the challenges presented by Future of Work scenarios. While the Future of Work has no end point, there is an ongoing journey towards business transformation, worker expectations, and adaptation to global trends and events.
Much has been written about the journey to the future of work but without sufficient depth on experiences from the worker’s perspective. For this reason, the sub-group places the worker at the heart of the ongoing transition to the future of work.
The sub-group is chaired by Northern Trust with the following member companies: Accenture, A&L Goodbody, BT Ireland, Deloitte, ESB, Janssen, Musgrave, PM Group, Vodafone and is supported by WorkMatters.
Flexible Working and the Future of Skills are the two over-arching themes looked by the Group.

The Learning and Development paper outlines recommendations on the education and career development needs of those within the adaptive working economy and the responsibilities of businesses in relation to these needs.
By investing in holistic learning and development programmes, and enabling adaptive workers’ access to these programmes, organisations will be able to develop skilled pools of talent and create a sustainable workforce equipped to respond to the challenges associated with technological disruption and the future of work.
