Successful Summer Work Placement Programme for Dublin Inner City Leaving Cert Students
Tuesday 22nd August 2023, Business in the Community Ireland (BITCI) is delighted with the success of its Summer Work Placement Programme that saw 19 Leaving Cert students embark on a paid internship with companies in the Funds Industry. These students from 6 North East Inner City DEIS schools were placed in different companies including some BITCI members such as A&L Goodbody.
Paula Brady, BITCI Work Experience Programme Co-ordinator said “The Class of 2023 have had difficult challenges due to the pandemic and many missed out on work experience opportunities in Transition Year. This Summer Work Placement Programme enhances their work readiness skills and gives them real life insights into the world of work. They have all been fully committed and engaged in the programme by sending applications, undergoing interviews, making presentations and learning on-the-job experiences. While there are many benefits to this initiative for both the participants and the companies, the overriding benefit is increase in the student’s own confidence levels.”
This programme is funded by IPUT through basis.point and is designed to provide students with access to career paths outside their existing network. It also helps raise student’s own aspirations on what their future career can look like.
