Novo Nordisk

Steeped in a 100-year heritage of medical innovation, Novo Nordisk is a leading global healthcare organisation with a mission to drive change to defeat serious chronic and rare diseases. The company has been operating in Ireland for over 46 years, employing a diverse team of over 70 individuals and supporting a significant number of patients nationwide. This year, Novo Nordisk adopted a new 3-year strategy, A Healthier Ireland, which commits to a doubling-down of efforts to tackle Ireland’s high chronic and rare disease burden.

As part of Novo Nordisk’s growing global network of 59,000 employees spread across 80 offices, the organisation’s Irish footprint has recently expanded its development and manufacturing capacity through the acquisition of a tableting and packaging facility in Athlone, highlighting Ireland’s strategic value and importance.

For Novo Nordisk, healthcare innovation goes hand-in-hand with sustainable development. The company partners with medical experts, healthcare organisations, and patient associations to enhance the understanding and treatment of chronic and rare diseases. Novo Nordisk also recently supported an initiative to provide cycling equipment to DEIS primary schools across Ireland and has been partnering with the DCU Access Stewardship Programme since 2018. In terms of environmental responsibility, Novo Nordisk is determined to achieve net zero emissions across its global value chain by 2045. This goal is supported by a commitment to reach zero CO2 emissions from operations and transport by 2030. In addition to these initiatives, Novo Nordisk Ireland employees participate in a number of local outreach initiatives on a regular basis, including the selection of an Irish charity for the organisation to sponsor each year.
