Over the course of 2013 Diageo Ireland donated more than €1 million to charities, community groups and social entrepreneurs across Ireland. This total figure includes charitable donations, bursaries, Arthur Guinness Fund payments and Arthur Guinness Projects payments.

Diageo has paid tribute to all staff who took part in charitable fundraising and volunteering in 2013 for a very wide and diverse array of groups and individuals across Ireland. The company and has said that it remains a significant source of pride for the company that the legendary charitable spirit of Arthur Guinness, which dates back to the mid-18th century, lives on to this day.

The company runs two employee volunteering support schemes. The Gifted annual grant scheme disburses a fund of €50,000 to 18 organisations or community groups where Diageo employees are actively involved. This programme acknowledges and supports the significant voluntary work that so many Diageo employees undertake within their communities in their own time. Similarly, the Match Your Fundraising programme sees Diageo match the money raised by employees for registered charities which are of special importance to them.

In addition, over €250,000 was given to winners of the Arthur Guinness Projects, which exist to provide visionaries and entrepreneurs who have innovative and inspiring ideas with practical and financial assistance to make them happen. Also this year, the Arthur Guinness Fund has donated €350,000 to social entrepreneurs addressing key issues that impact on society.
