Accenture announces new 2020 Corporate Citizenship Goals
Accenture’s 2014 Corporate Citizenship Report, “Making a Measurable Difference,” highlights Accenture’s efforts around the globe to collaborate with others to improve the way the world works and lives. It also features a series of new goals to help the organisation increase its impact.
By the end of fiscal 2020, Accenture will:
Equip more than 3 million people with the skills to get a job or build a business through the Skills to Succeed initiative; increase the focus on the successful transition from skill-building programs to sustainable employment; and bring together more organizations across sectors to create large scale, lasting solutions aimed at closing global unemployment gaps.
Reduce its per employee carbon emissions by more than 50 percent against their fiscal 2007 baseline, and begin to measure and report the impact of sustainability initiatives with clients and suppliers.
Additionally, the report illustrates Accenture’s commitment to advancing inclusion and diversity among people and suppliers. The firm will aim to grow the percentage of women new hires and develop and integrate more small, medium and diverse enterprises into its global supply chain. In Ireland, Accenture has been working closely with organisations such as Jobcare, Fastrack to IT, An Cosán and Junior Achievement to advance the employability skills of young people and the long-term unemployed. Over the last four years, Accenture’s support has helped skill over 4,000 people through Skills to Succeed initiatives with these non-profit partners alone.
Accenture also supports BITC’s EPIC programme, helping to advance the employability skills of immigrants in Ireland. Accenture volunteers have supported EPIC through delivery of employability skills training, mock interviews and peer-to-peer discussion groups. The latter has been very well received by the participants with some finding it “very motivating and encouraging”, others saying “it was great to hear real story how an immigrant succeed”.
