Fania Ellison, Time to Read Programme Coordinator, BITCI, acknowledges the successful growth in the programme.
Our Education team set ourselves a target of having Time to Read in 50 schools by September 2017. As the programme coordinator I was worried this might be a little optimistic, but you have to dream! Well the dream has become a reality and we were thrilled to reach this target in August. This means that over 500 volunteers from Mayo to Wexford and many places in between, will be reading with over 500 children for the next six months.
Loyal support in companies like Elavon, Gas Networks Ireland, ESB, Citibank, Irish Life and Bord Gas have been with us since the beginning and then we are really excited to have new companies and sectors getting involved each year. Companies like Lionbridge, Servier, Pramerica, Davy, Horse Racing Ireland, Kildare Village, Core Media and Failte Ireland to name a few.
“We are so pleased to see the growth and interest of businesses in Time to Read this past summer. We believe this is due to Time to Read being one of the most positive impacts as one of the best employee engagement opportunities for companies. The impacts in 2017 in terms of the programmes objectives have been the greatest to date. We believe this is down to our approach of taking on board the feedback from our stakeholders and participants and maintaining a focus on development, “Germaine Noonan, Programme Manager, BITCI.
Not only do all our companies support the programme financially, but we were lucky enough to secure an anonymous donation this year which will help so much in the future development of the programme.
Onwards & up!
