22nd October 2012 Time to Read is now rolling out nationally into 15 schools, with the first reading sessions already underway.
There was a great buzz over the Summer as training took place for the 150 volunteers who are taking part. This has been delivered in their companies by BITC coordinators, assisted by a team of teachers from St. Patrick’s College, Drumcondra supported by Dr Eithne Kennedy, our pilot programme evaluator.
Each school has received a mixed box of books chosen by literacy and library experts and all the schools are delighted with the books.
Class teachers and Home School Community Liaison Teachers are also very involved helping us draw up baseline measures on the children as they start on the programme.
