Time to Read reaches milestone

Tuesday, October 3rd, 2017

Fania Ellison, Time to Read Programme Coordinator, BITCI, acknowledges the successful growth in the programme.

In June, our education team set ourselves a target of having at least 8 more Time to Read programmes by the new school year. As the programme coordinator I was worried this might be a little optimistic, but you have to dream! Well the dream has become a reality and we were thrilled to reach this target. This means that almost 500 volunteers from Mayo to Wexford and many places in between, will be reading with almost 500 children for the next six months.

Loyal support from Elavon, Gas Networks Ireland, ESB, Citi and Irish Life who have been with us since the beginning and then we are really excited to have new companies and sectors getting involved each year. This year we welcome ABP, CNP SantanderCornmarketCore Media, Irish National StudFáilte Ireland, Pramerica, Abbott in Sligo, and Bank of Ireland in Kilkenny.

“We are so pleased to see the growth and interest of businesses in Time to Read this past summer and believe this is because of its most positive impacts.  It is one  the best employee engagement opportunities for companies.  The impacts in 2017 in terms of the programmes objectives have been the greatest to date.  We believe this is down to our approach of taking on board the feedback from our stakeholders and participants and maintaining a focus on development”, Germaine Noonan, Programme Manager, BITCI.

Not only do all our companies support the programme financially, but we were lucky enough to secure an anonymous donation this year which will help so much in the future development of the programme.

Onwards & up!
