What is your role in programme?

Company Coordinator

What in your opinion are key success factors leading to an effective programme?

  • The company having belief in the programme – feeling what they do really does benefit the students.
  • To enjoy delivering the programme, and share the benefits of the programme with other staff members, so as to encourage them to get involved.
  • Having a good relationship with the school and the students. Finding out about the school and being adaptable to flex the programme to the needs of the students.
  • Being organised and planning well in advance.
  • Company being committed and delivering on what they have agreed.

How do you, personally, contribute to this?

20151125_111107I really enjoy co-ordinating and delivering the programme. I enjoy interacting with the students, hearing what interests them and adapting the sessions to suit their needs.

I get feedback from the school and the BITC co-ordinator to ensure the programme is being delivered in the best manner. I make the sessions as interactive as possible so the students get the most out of it.

I co-ordinate within the company, organising staff members for each of the sessions, and helping the staff prepare for their sessions. I also attend all of the sessions.

What in your opinion are key success factors leading to an effective programme?

Key success factors in a great Skills @ Work programme is setting up a good relationship with the school and its coordinator, finding out about the school and the students and adapting the programme to the interests of the students. Interactive sessions with lots of student participation can help ensure the students obtain value from the programme.

How do you, personally, contribute to this?

Capture2I do this by having a real interest and passion for the programme and for meeting the students. I attend all programme sessions and spend time speaking to the students, finding out what they are interested in and encouraging the sessions to be as interactive as possible. I keep in contact with the school coordinator during the year and ask for feedback on the sessions, adapting future sessions in response to the needs of the school.

One fun fact about yourself!

I love to travel and the most interesting place I’ve visited is China! It was so different!
