Hovione, the pharmaceutical contract manufacturer, has come up with an innovative way to make the most of its beautiful surroundings in Loughbeg, Co. Cork, where their premises overlook Whitegate, Spike Island and Cobh. Inspiring employees and other visitors to take positive steps and form lasting healthy habits, the company has created a map to guide walkers around its site to different scenic points, while providing useful fitness tips and encouragement along the way. These simple actions also aim to confront “the toughest thing about starting a fitness programme – developing a habit”. In case walkers need more than that for motivation, the company has also included interesting historical facts about the different locations on the map and even meeting-points, so that the habit can be a team activity. All it takes to pursue an active lifestyle is this 1.2km route, a good pair of shoes and 15 minutes per day!
