Celebrating our 10 Year Partnerships

Celine McGrath, BITCI reflects…

A very special event took place in Cork City on February 12^th last week as 5 SBP partnerships celebrated 10 consecutive years of working together – where did the time go? Back in 2005 Cork wasn’t that different – lots of building work and traffic jams – but what happened in the intervening years was massive. We’re all well aware of the economic  tsunami that hit the whole country and it’s no surprise to us that these 5 businesses, all long standing and well respected Cork companies, came out the other side stronger for it.

Cork SBP co-ordinators, Diane Beckingham and Celine McGrath, together with Programme Manager, Germaine Noonan, hosted a lunch for the key people involved in all 5 partnerships over the decade. It was a warm and friendly affair at the Market Lane restaurant in the city and, it being Cork, most of the guests knew each other from various past associations. It was lovely to reflect on the impact of those long standing partnerships and how many young people in the region had been helped and encouraged, also how the partnerships had developed to benefit the teachers, the boards of management and even the school buildings.
