Carmel McQuaid is Head of Sustainable Business at Marks and Spencer. Her primary role is working with colleagues across the business as M&S transforms to a much more sustainable business. She leads policy and innovation work in particular on climate change, circular economy, stakeholder and community engagement. A particular focus is working with NGO, university and industry partnerships to drive mass market sustainability in food and clothing industries. She sits on the Innovation Advisory Board for the Natural Environment and Research Council in the UK.
Prior to M&S she worked as a management consultant in manufacturing, supply chain and sustainability for PA Consulting Group working across a range of industries from aerospace to consumer products.
Originally from Dundalk, Carmel studied at Queen’s University Belfast before starting work as a chemical engineering for ICI in Germany and the UK.
Carmel joined the board of Business in the Community Ireland in 2016.
