The Path to COP26:

As many countries look to rebuild their economies in the wake of the pandemic, there has been a major emphasis on ‘building back better’ through a green recovery, and COP26 will be the first time nations come together to discuss the commitments they made in the Paris Agreement in 2015.

This year COP26 will take place in Glasgow, and globally, including here in Ireland, reputation on climate action will come into focus, with investors, employees, customers, and regulators asking business for transparency on actions to reduce carbon emissions.

During this webinar, speakers discussed the preparation for the months of climate action ahead of the flagship summit in Glasgow, where world leaders will be seeking a more ambitious climate change agreement. The webinar focused on the role that government, business and other stakeholders will play in supporting the delivery of a successful and impactful COP.

Moderated by Tómas Sercovich, CEO, Business in the Community Ireland.

Speakers:

  • Stephen Wheeler, Ireland Country Lead, SSE
  • Susanne Olbrisch, Climate Policy Specialist, United Nations Development Programme
  • Fiona Macklin, Campaign Coordinator, Race to Zero
