The launch of our new ambitious Low Carbon Pledge

Mar 24, 2021

Today we launched our new ambitious Low Carbon Pledge and unveiled Ireland’s top companies who have signed up. Originally launched in 2018, the Pledge has now evolved and calls on all Irish businesses to work towards setting science-based emission reduction targets (i.e. what science says is necessary to limit global warming to 1.5°C) by 2024 at the latest.

This year COP 26 will take place in Glasgow and Ireland’s reputation on climate action will come into focus. With investors, employees, customers, and regulators asking business for transparency on actions to reduce carbon emissions, the Low Carbon Pledge, recognised by the Irish government in its Climate Action Plan, is driving transparency and reporting.

Minister for Climate Action, Communication Networks and Transport, Eamon Ryan TD formally launched our new Low Carbon Pledge, and we heard from a panel of signatory business leaders on the concrete steps they are taking to address climate change. A must-watch for businesses interested in addressing the climate crisis and looking for insights on how to take action.
