A&L Goodbody raise funds for homelessness and supports literacy

Calcutta Run 2014

calcuttarunOn May 17th 2014, the Calcutta Run event took place in the Phoenix park with over 1,200 people raising vital funds for homeless young people through the Peter McVerry Trust and GOAL.

Over 160 A&L Goodbody people took part in the event as either participants or volunteers. In the lead up to the run itself, A&LG engaged in a number of fundraising activities such as casual dress day, table quiz night and cake sale, raising approximately €20,000.

A&L Goodbody and the Law Society established the Calcutta Run in 1999. Since then, the run has taken place every year and has grown in strength and numbers with many members of the legal community taking part. To date it has raised over €2.75m for the Peter McVerry Trust and Goal.

 

BITCNI A Time to Read Literacy Programme Belfast

a time to read a&l goodbodyA&L Goodbody supports literacy as its flagship community programme in both Dublin and Belfast. On Friday, 20th of June, A&L Goodbody Belfast hosted their first graduation for all involved in the BITCNI A Time to Read Literacy programme. Six students from the Star of the Sea school, Belfast, along with their teachers joined their six A&LG reading mentors to celebrate the completion of their 9 month paired reading programme. The event took place in the A&LG offices based in Belfast city centre.
