BBC BusinessVia BBC Business: Companies in the UK with more than 250 employees that fail to address pay differences between male and female employees will be highlighted in new league tables under plans announced on Friday.

  • Those with more than 250 employees will be forced to reveal their pay gap.
  • The regulations will affect about 8,000 employers across the UK.
  • They will need to start calculating the pay gap from April 2017 – 12 months ahead of the first tables being published.

A major shift in the areas of investors as Larry Fink, the CEO of the world’s biggest investor with $4.6 trillion, wrote to chief executives at S&P 500 companies and large European corporations stating the need for long term views and that long-term, environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues – ranging from climate change to diversity to board effectiveness – have real and quantifiable financial impacts.
