Lidl Ireland joins over 85 of Ireland’s top companies as a member of Business in the Community
Business in the Community Ireland (BITCI) today announced that leading retailer Lidl Ireland has joined its business network of over 85 companies dedicated to responsible business and sustainability. BITCI is a non-profit business network dedicated to supporting companies of all sizes on their sustainability journey.
It is the only network of its kind in Ireland with members including some of Ireland’s largest companies.
Lidl is a family owned retailer who also own retailer Kaufland and originated in Germany. It’s the second-largest retailer in the world after Walmart. Lidl Ireland operates 152 stores in the Republic of Ireland employing over 4300 employees.
Commenting on the decision to become a member of BITCI, Lidl Ireland Managing Director John Paul Scally said:
“As one of the most reputable organisations in Ireland, according to the 2017 RepTrak, we are delighted to further cement our intention to operate a leading sustainable business. Our mission states that we want to work with business partners to build sustainable relationships and contribute positively to communities and we see a partnership with BITCI as a fantastic way to do this. We look forward to working with them towards achieving many of our ambitious Origin Green targets.”
