Communities addressing disadvantage and social exclusion

BITCI News - Aug 26, 2014

Business in the Community is starting a 2-year consultation initiative looking at disadvantage and social exclusion in designated areas around the country.  The first 6 months will focus on Dublin 1 and from January 2015 Cork.

Working with community representatives and businesses, BITCI will produce a community profile presenting key socio-economic information relevant to the area. The research will consist of desktop research, surveys, profiles and community plans. This is then enriched by material gathered through consulting with different stakeholders.   The consultation process provides an opportunity for people to put forward views and ideas about their aspirations for their community and how they see the role of business and what issues businesses should be impacting on.

Stakeholders in the designated areas are encouraged to take part. Initial involvement will include a survey, interview and participation in a multi-stakeholder focus group. The first outcome will be an initial report, followed by further engagement with the potential to collaborate on a joint action plan to address solutions.
