BITCI and Google partner to offer free support to charities

BITCI News - May 05, 2020

Business in the Community Ireland have partnered with Google who are offering free support from volunteers in their Irish office to help you work online effectively. If you wish to sign up, Google volunteers will conduct a needs assessment with you to see what online services you require to move to working from home more effectively. Then, Google volunteers will offer support sessions to help teach your staff on how to use these services and resources.

Some examples of the supports from Google include:

Digital need How Google can support

Connecting with your employees, volunteers and members

How to setup an effective online meeting with colleagues and share notes in realtime

Shifting to digital programme delivery

Creating a livestream for trainings and lessons

Bringing offline fundraising experiences online

Making an internal site for your team to host news and updates

To sign up for Google volunteer support, please complete this form.

Once you are signed up, Google and BITCI will try to match you with a Google volunteer, who will reach out to you directly to organise a consultation. We anticipate a large number of applications, therefore the matching process may take some time, and we can’t guarantee that all requests will be met. However, we will endeavour to meet all the requests where possible, and we will communicate to applicants to update on progress.

You can find out more information about the various tools here.

In addition, you may find the teachfromhome.google content beneficial if your service involves an educational element.

If you have any questions please contact Shane Mulchrone at smulchrone@bitc.ie or Joe O’Donnell at jodonnell@bitc.ie.

If you’re a registered charity, you may also be eligible for their Google for Nonprofits offering, which gives you access to an extensive set of online collaboration tools for free. If you have not yet signed up for this service, you can do so here.
