BITCI launch sustainability report

BITCI News - Oct 30, 2018

On behalf of our Sustainability Committee Down to Earth, we are delighted to launch the 2017 Sustainability report. The report was launched last month. Download a copy of the report or read a few of the highlights below:

Environment:

2017 was the first year that SSE Ireland became our energy provider, providing 100% renewable energy. Electricity purchased was the most significant carbon emissions source for the Foundation and by moving over to a 100% renewable energy provider, the Foundation was able to reduce their carbon emissions by over 60%.

Marketplace:

  • The biggest activity in our supply chain in 2017 was the search for a new office building (over 55 buildings were viewed)! Due to our new office location; we will review our procurement policy and local suppliers throughout 2018 and 2019.
  • Our membership survey results highlighted the fact that our members have given us a net promoter score of 97/100. In 2017, we had 82 organisations in the network, including 11 new members

Governance and Communications:

In light of the General Data Protection Regulation which took effect in May 2018, resources were put in place to carry out a review at the end of 2017, to ensure compliance with the new regulations.

Workplace:

Although over 80% of employees are female, in 2017 we have increased gender and age diversity on both organisations boards and staff. Our 2018/2018 KPIs aim to further improve employee diversity and to reach a 30% female representation on both boards by 2020.

Community:

Throughout 2017, a total of 36 staff volunteered accumulating a total of 52.5 days spent volunteering. This is a significant increase in the number of staff and days spent volunteering from 2016.
