Symantec’s 2017 Corporate Responsibility Report

Symantec is pleased to announce the release of their 2017 Corporate Responsibility Report.

As a global corporate citizen, Symantec believes in its shared responsibility to tackle issues that leverage its size, scale and expertise about the cyber security threat landscape to make the world a safer place. In its 2017 Corporate Responsibility Report,Symantec shares what it has done over the past year – and where it is headed. Symantec is proud of the progress it has made so far and is committed to ongoing improvement.

In its 10th annual report, Symantec outlines some meaningful achievements – specifically exceeding the goal of educating more than 1 million students in STEM and reducing the company’s greenhouse gas emissions by 15 percent.

Symantec invites you to read the report and complete a brief survey. For every response completed by October 31, 2017, Symantec will donate $50 to Common Sense Education to support digital safety education for youth.

Symantec is pleased to report that in 2017 the company achieved important milestones such as:

  • Surpassing its goal of educating one million students in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) with an emphasis on computer science and cyber security.
  • Reducing scope 1 and scope 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 15 percent, far surpassing the company’s three percent annual reduction target and bringing its reduction total to 19 percent.
  • Extending its Symantec Cyber Career Connection (Symantec C3) program which continues to provide a pathway for underrepresented young adults and veterans to enter into the cyber security field. Now in it’s third year, the program is producing a 72% employment rate for graduates into cyber security positions. Sixty-three percent of participants in the training program are people of color and 25% are female, which is well above the industry average.
  • The company has been named to the Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index for the 11th consecutive year and to the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index for the 10th consecutive year.
  • Symantec has been a member of the FTSE4Good for 11 consecutive years.

Additionally, Symantec supports the United Nations Development Goals and is working in five areas connected to its business activities, including improving access to quality education, reducing inequalities, contributing to work and economic growth and taking steps to help protect the climate.
