Fidelity Ireland’s Response to Covid-19

Members News - Jun 11, 2020

At Fidelity Ireland we are committed to keeping our employees safe and supporting the communities in which we live and work during these difficult times.

In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, we were able in mid-March to mobilize our employees to work from home virtually overnight. We have since been working remotely which has proven to be a successful and seamless transition.

We’ve made countless modifications to our internal communications, employee programs and community initiatives to respond to Covid-19 as we do any challenge – as an agile, resilient, innovative team.

Since we began our working from home journey over two months ago the efforts of our employees to remain connected to each other as well as supporting the communities in which they live and work have been remarkable.

Employee Connections:

Employees have been inventive and innovative in creating new ways to connect with their teams through virtual quizzes, book clubs and themed Friday catchups. Taking team meetings “on the road” has become very popular, allowing teams to get out and about while also catching up with their colleagues.

Our employee groups and culture crews have organised a range of fun virtual activities to ensure groups can connect on topics outside of their day-to-day roles with virtual coffee mornings for parents and caregivers, a range of virtual workshops focuses on upskilling , steps challenges and virtual art tours.

Fidelity Cares – Giving Back to our Communities:

Recently, Ireland employees took part in our annual Fidelity Cares week, joining colleagues from across the globe for a number of virtual events aimed at connecting with our communities.

Hundreds of our employees got together to:

  • Hold a virtual Great Fidelity Bake Off in aid of Age Action
  • Host a “5k, Your Way” challenge for Down Syndrome Ireland and Galway Simon Community
  • Organise a food donation over 4 weeks for the front-line workers at Tallaght University Hospital

Over €10,000 has been donated by staff as part of these activities – an incredible effort!

We are continuing with our focus on STEM education and are working with a number of schools in Dublin and Galway to get laptops to those who are in need of IT equipment at home. We are also looking at how we begin to deliver our educational programs virtually, continuing to inspire the next generation of STEM stars!

Beginning on June 5th to celebrate World Environment Day we are organising several interactive workshops for our employees focused on sustainability and how we can continue to enhance our green efforts at home and in our surrounding areas while working remotely.

Health and Wellness:

Health and wellbeing has remained a key focus for many associates and our Sports & Social club and Well4 Life programs have stepped up to provide weekly virtual pilates and yoga classes as well as a number of webinars focused on work/life balance, time management, ergonomics at home and finance.

Enhanced employee benefits and supports including Covid-19 relief days (in addition to normal annual leave accrual) to deal with childcare, family matters, and other challenges related to this crisis and additional healthcare resources have ensured our associates continue to stay safe and well during this time.
