Luas operator Transdev wins the Award for Light Rail Operator of the Year for the second year running at the Global Light Rail Awards

The awards ceremony, which was held in London on Wednesday the 3rd of October, is an annual event attended by representatives from across the global light rail industry. The awards celebrate innovation and excellence, covering topics such as customer experience, sustainability, safety and technical initiatives, engineering and operational excellence, and system design.

The winner of the prestigious Operator of the Year Award is the operator that demonstrates exceptional innovation, performance and customer service over the previous year.

Last night there were 4 operators shortlisted; Edinburgh Trams, Scotland,  KeolisAmey Docklands, London,  Keolis Downer Gold Coast, Australia and Transdev / Luas, Dublin.

Transdev was commended by the judges for its ability to manage service at times of severe weather in particular its management of Beast from the East and Storm Emma. The Luas Safety record was also acknowledged as was Transdev’s commitment to corporate social responsibility .

One noted cause was  the annual event with Inner City Helping Homeless; Transdev with ICHH ask the public to fill a Luas ( tram ) full of shoeboxes with content for the Homeless.

Last year 22,000 boxes were filled.  The same event #fillaluas will take place again this year at Connolly Luas Stop on Thursday December 6th 2018

Winning the award two years in a row acknowledges Transdev’s ongoing commitment to operating Luas –  an industry-leading customer experience.
