Our first workshop addressing the issue of business and biodiversity will take place this month kicking off a new focus within Business in the Community Ireland on this issue.
In our environmental report published in March 2014 ‘Making consistent impact: Environmental Trends, Best Practice and Supports’ we identified that organisations’ commitment to and action on biodiversity was significantly lagging behind other environmental aspects.
This year we are developing a new service to help our members to protect and enhance biodiversity. This will include developing a framework for action, case studies and events. All organisations can and should take action to protect biodiversity – for some it is quite obvious as their operations have a direct impact on biodiversity. For others action may need to be taken as part of supply chain decisions. Others still may take local action through their volunteering programme.
This workshop, open to member companies, will provide an introduction to biodiversity, it will explore how any business can take action on biodiversity and it will explore some best practice case studies.
This workshop will be of interest to those working in the area of environment, supply chain, and community engagement. Please extend to your colleagues who you think may be interested.
