Open Doors Initiative Seminar: What works in the Workplace

This seminar is intended for companies interested in learning more about the Open Door project and supports that are available to companies who wish to consider participating in the Open Doors Initiative. Speakers from Positive2Work Skillnet, the Disability Federation, the Immigrant Council of Ireland and others will provide information and be on hand to answer any questions companies might have. This event is a Must Attend for any company wanting to understand more about the unique workplace challenges faced by migrants, people with disabilities, and long term unemployed youth.


9.30am:               The Business case for diversity in the workplace and MC – Dil Wickremasinghe

9.45am:               Disability in the workplace – access and culture (Seonaid Ó Murchadha – Employer Disability Information)

10.15am:             Cultural needs for the Migrant community in the workplace (Brian Killoran – Immigrant Council of Ireland)

10.45am:             Working with under 25s from disadvantaged backgrounds

11.15am              COFFEE BREAK 

11.30am:             Case study – Examples of how some of the employability programmes operate (Deirdre Murphy, Accenture)

12noon:               Role of Positive2Work Skillnet with the Initiative (possible funding for employment programmes) (Mark Brennan)

12.15pm:                   Q&A

12.30pm:                   Closing remarks: David Stanton TD, Minister of State for Equality, Immigration, and Integration, Department of Justice
