Launch of new Diversity & Inclusion Pledge

May 20, 2021

VENUE: Webinar

TIME: 11:00am - 12:00 noon

Today, investors, consumers, employees, and civil society all pay attention to how businesses respond to the diversity, equality and inclusion challenges we face. Companies are expected to act beyond compliance and to take a real stand on inclusion.

Through our successful Low Carbon Pledge, we have seen the power of the collective business response in tackling the existential threat of climate disruption. Building on the success of this campaign, Business in the Community Ireland is delighted to be launching a new Pledge focusing on meaningful diversity and inclusion.

We in Business in the Community Ireland believe that businesses can only be sustainable in a fair and equal society. For over 20 years, we have driven this agenda through our education and employment programmes where we support people from different backgrounds to enter employment in this country. For example, our award-winning EPIC programme has placed over 1500 people from over 100 nationalities into jobs.

Through our on-the-ground experience, coupled with the power of our business network of Ireland’s leading companies, this new commitment aims to build truly inclusive workplaces where everyone has access to opportunities and is supported to thrive.

Join us on Thursday, 20th May from 11am – 12 noon, as we unveil the first signatories of this Pledge and hear from business leaders, activists, participants of our programmes and many more voices from our community.

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Christie Idemudia, Senior HR Business Partner, Mercury Engineering
  • Harry Goddard, CEO, Deloitte Ireland
  • Ken Scully, Head of Trading & Commercial Operations – Ireland, Marks & Spencer
  • Paul McKeon, Diversity and Inclusion Advocate
  • Shay Walsh, Managing Director, BT Ireland
  • Sinead Patton, Chief Financial and Commercial Officer, Veolia Ireland

We hope you can join us for a thought-provoking conversation on the barriers and enablers to creating measurable and meaningful impact on diversity and inclusion.
