Wednesday October 31th, 2012: The EPIC Programme– one of the social inclusion programmes in Business in the Community Ireland had a Graduation Ceremony on Tuesday October 30th at 1130am.

The graduates were presented with their Certificates of Achievement by the Minister for Justice, Equality and Defence, Alan Shatter, who in his address welcomed the talents and skills immigrants bring to Ireland, noting that taking part in EPIC showed the graduates “desire to better yourselves and to acquire the necessary skills and competences to participate actively in the economic life of the country.”

Other keynote speakers were Denise Charlton CEO of the Immigrant Council of Ireland, Shay Walsh MD of Business at BT Ireland, Bertin Kodjo former EPIC Trainee currently full-time employee at Ebay, and Steve Costello MBE, Chairman for the EPIC Programme

The EPIC Programme, supported by businesses, contributes to the National and EU Integration policy by enabling immigrants to become financially independent and socially integrated in Ireland through accessing employment and further education/training.

It is funded by the Office for the Promotion of Migrant Integration (formerly the Office of the Minister for Integration) under the Department of Justice and Equality and co-financed under the European Social Fund Human Capital Operational Programme 2007-2013.

During 2011 and so far during 2012 we have engaged with 591 immigrants and placed 391 in employment and/or education, giving us a 66% placement rate. We are delighted to celebrate the achievements of our clients.
