Elevate Workshop #2: Opportunities for Business in Tackling Educational Disadvantage

Aug 24, 2021

VENUE: Virtual Event

TIME: 11:00am - 12:00 noon

As the new school term approaches our Education colleagues will host an information session on Opportunities for Business in Tackling Educational Disadvantage on August 24th at 11am.

Over the past twenty years, Business in the Community Ireland (BITCI) has created a nationwide movement of companies who have been supporting local disadvantaged primary and post primary schools. Many members have multiple partnerships across the country. 88 companies have been 10 years or more in partnership with their local school.

We are on the final stretch to match the remaining 20 unmatched post primary schools with a business partner. It will be a remarkable achievement for the business sector to have achieved this and we are seeking your support.

In tandem with this drive, we also have exciting opportunities for our members to provide their staff with a fun and impactful volunteering opportunity via our Time to Read and Time to Count primary school programmes. We know workplaces currently need this outlet for their staff.

We are in a growth phase to support literacy and numeracy in DEIS primary schools and want to share the impact that many of our member companies have experienced. Join us on the 24th August to hear about these opportunities for your business and its employees.

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Christina van der Kamp, Corporate Responsibility Manager, Gas Networks Ireland
  • Emer Smyth, Research Professor, ESRI
  • Michael Tunney, Principal, Scoil Íosa, Ballina, Co. Mayo
