The first Biodiversity Learning Network of 2019 will be taking place on International Day for Biological Diversity, Wednesday 22nd of May. Over the last four years, we have been promoting biodiversity to our members and encouraging you to get involved through the Biodiversity Framework and the various workshops and events we’ve run.
Several of our member companies have truly embraced the biodiversity agenda and have undertaken numerous initiatives such as onsite bee-hives, wildflower meadows, insect hotels and volunteering with community organisation to protect local biodiversity. There was a high demand from companies to learn from what others had done and/or are already doing when it came to biodiversity initiatives. Using the vast amount of case studies we were able to gather from our members, we have developed the first Biodiversity Handbook for Business, which we are now delighted to share with the network.
Along with sharing companies’ biodiversity stories, this Booklet does so much more. It provides you with guidance on how to begin your biodiversity journey; how to engage your staff; and how to support your communities. It also provides a platform to showcase the amazing environmental NGOs in Ireland and how you, as a business, can get involved.
The workshop will focus on the Biodiversity Handbook and what lessons other member companies can learn from the booklet and how they can be applied in their own organisation.
A representative from the National Botanic Gardens of Ireland will also give a talk on the wonders of nature and after the workshop is finished, all participants are invited to join a guided tour of the gardens
