Process and Fees

Evaluation, Auditing and Certification

Achieving the Business Working Responsibly Mark comprises the three following stages:

Completing the questionnaire

Once your company has decided to take part in the Business Working Responsibly Mark you will be provided with log-in details for your organisation’s individual and confidential online questionnaire.

  • The questionnaire involves 26 key indicators within five business areas including, CR governance and communications, workplace, marketplace, environment and community
  • As the organisation completes the questionnaire, Business in the Community Ireland will be available to clarify any questions through support by phone, workshops and webinars.
  • Prior to submission, our CSR Advisers will also review each section and provide final feedback.

  • When you complete the questionnaire it will be reviewed by our independent CSR advisers. Your company will receive an overall score and if your company achieves 50% in each of the five categories and an overall pass rate of 70% then your organisation is eligible for audit. If you combine a successful score in the questionnaire with a successful audit, you will achieve the Business Working Responsibly Mark.
  • After assessment—whether successful or otherwise—we will provide the organisation with feedback. Please note this can take up to eight weeks.
  • If your company wants to use the questionnaire for internal assessment only or does not reach the pass standard, then feedback is also provided.

Auditing with National Standards Authority of Ireland

To be eligible for audit and achievement of the Business Working Responsibly Mark, your company must:

  • Achieve 50% in each of the questionnaire’s five sub categories and 70% overall
  • If your company does wish to proceed a notification is sent to the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI), our audit partners and a date is set for the audit. The NSAI will send you a quote and contract directly for the audit fee of €1,100 plus VAT per audit day.
  • The audit takes place on location at organisation sites over a maximum of two days.  Once the audit has taken place, the NSAI will confirm if your company has or has not satisfied the criteria to achieve the Mark.
  • Regardless of the outcome of the audit, the company will be provided with feedback.

Three Years Certification

If your company is successful in meeting the criteria to achieve the Mark and has passed the audit you will be eligible for certification. Your company can then be signed up to the Business Working Responsibly Mark. The certification is valid for a three year period from the date of certification.

The fee for a non-member company to be evaluated is €10,000.

Access to the Business Working Responsibly Mark is included in our Strategist and Leader Streams of membership.

If the company wishes to apply for audit verification there is an additional €1,100 plus VAT fee per audit day up to a maximum of two days. This is charged directly by the NSAI, our audit partners. Our fees are estimated based on eight days work to brief, score and feedback on the questionnaire.

As Business in the Community Ireland is a non-profit organisation please note that VAT is not charged.
