At Tesco Ireland we are proud to partner with Temple Street Children’s University Hospital as our national charity partner. As a strategic five year partnership (2014-2019) our aim is to raise €5million over that time to enable the hospital to buy vital medical equipment to treat patients from towns and cities across Ireland.
As a colleague led fundraising partnership, our colleagues are at the heart of all of the events and fundraising drives we hold, and bring a lot of energy, enthusiasm and fun to what they do – they put the fun into fundraising!
Giving back to the communities we operate in is a key objective for Tesco Ireland and this partnership enables us to support individuals and families nationwide who have been affected by their child, relative or friend needing to visit Temple Street for treatment. With over 147,000 children being treated in the hospital each year, there’s very few people who have not been touched by the amazing support Temple Street provides to children of all ages each year.
Fundraising at Tesco is focused around 3-4 national events we hold each year and supported by smaller raffles, sky dives, head shaves and leg waxes and much more.
Last year our biggest fundraiser was the Great Irish Bake event through which we raised over €120,000 in just one day! Our colleagues are amazing when it comes to baking cakes and treats for charity, investing their time and creativity, and so this event is a perfect fit for us with customers delighted to nab a slice of cake and support a good cause too! Across the day, colleagues in our 151 stores, our head office and distribution centre held cake sales and had some fun whilst raising a lot of money for Temple Street.
To date we’ve raised over €4 million for Temple Street and are proud to be one of the largest private sector charity fundraisers in Ireland.
