The National Lottery was set up with the express purpose of raising funds for Good Causes. The National Lottery is all about enhancing people’s lives, not just for those who win but for everyone in society. So by playing our games, the people of Ireland help to create a better society through raising much-needed funds for Good Causes in the areas of sport and recreation, national culture, heritage, the Irish language, the arts, health, community, youth, and the natural environment.
With almost 30 cent of every €1 our players spend on National Lottery games going back to Good Causes, you are making a very positive impact on local communities all over Ireland.
The major Good Causes Awards initiative, now in its second year, is open to organisations making an incredible difference in their communities with the help of National Lottery Good Causes funding. The televised awards carry a prize fund of €95,000. They are aimed at honouring the inspiring work and achievements of thousands of projects, clubs and individuals all over Ireland.
In 2018, to help us give back to the communities that we live and work in, National Lottery partnered with 11 community organisations across Ireland, including Special Olympics Ireland, Alone and Down Syndrome Ireland. Through these community links, our employees gave 175 volunteer hours and fundraised €5,204, in addition to company support of €10,920 in cash donations.
