Momentum Support & Special Olympics Ireland

Momentum Support was established in 1982. Employing in excess of 2,500 people. Delivering more than 3 million hours of service per annum. Pride in our Mission “We do business ethically by keeping our promises to our customers, our staff and our suppliers”. Accomplishing our Vision “To be a company to which our competitors aspire, where all our staff and customers benefit from the experience of being partnered with us”. The strength of our people delivering company principles through embracing core values of: Valuing our customers, Pride, Fair Leadership, Integrity, Accountability & Entrepreneurial Spirit. Leading through our Strategic Themes: Operational Excellence, Growth, Innovation, People and Social Value. In April 2017 the Corporate Social Responsibility Division was established to deliver our CSR Strategy – Mission Right Let’s make the right choice. The primary key initiative is to achieve the BWR Mark by June 2020. Driving Momentum Support’s Social Value theme through our objective “To operate our business in a way that not only generates benefits for the Organisation, but also society and the economy, whilst minimising damage to the Environment”.

For 2019 our Community Engagement partners are PIPS, Suicide or Survive, Mind, Special Olympics & Simon Communities.
“Through receiving a request from Willie Dunne, Site Manager to consider Special Olympics as he was supporting team members with special needs & he believed “Everybody should follow their dreams, to just have the courage and strength to help others achieve there dreams in life”. We listened with interest and proceeded to partner with the Special Olympics Ireland to impact intellectual disabilities. The Special Olympics is the world’s largest sports and humanitarian event for adults and children with intellectual disabilities. They offer its athletes much more than just the physical benefits of sport, it offers them life enhancing skills, the chance to show their ability as opposed to their disability and the opportunity to make friends with fellow competitors as well as team mates from all areas of Ireland. It is through sport that the Special Olympics changes lives.

There motto is “Let me win, but if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.”

Since the CSR Division was established, we have impacted all stakeholders through awareness and through the Fundraising Campaign: The Teddy Valentine Raffle, Bucket Collections at JC Savage & Blanchardstown Centre. I have personally participated as a sponsor at the Ireland Games and recently as a volunteer with #TeamIreland, Abu Dhabi World Games. Our introduction to Special Olympics as a sponsor came from a request to sponsor Co Offaly Special Olympics Bowling Team, as a result, I was chosen to present a bronze medal to Nikita Dunican, Co Offaly Bowling Team member at the Ireland Games.”

Our Special Olympics Ireland target was to raise €4500. This was achieved through the support of all stakeholders (2500 Employees Ireland & UK), suppliers Sanserve & Ice Clean. A special thank-you Momentum Support who were the largest single cash donation of €2250, also to the Momentum Support Team at the Blanchardstown Centre for holding a Special Olympic Bucket Collection on the 7th March 2019 which raised €1207.93 achieving a final total for Momentum Support Fundraising Campaign of €5,847.31.

Friends, family and local community made an impact through raising the balance of €2,150.42. This highlights that through Working better together we can achieve the CSR Strategy Mission right let’s make the right choice.
