Dawn Meats as a family owned and managed company has a real sense of place in the community through our 7000+ employees based at 25 regional locations in Ireland and the UK, our 30,000+ farmer suppliers and many more consumers who enjoy our products on a daily basis. We have a proud tradition of support for charities and giving back to the communities where we operate. We know that this element brings a sense of achievement and pride in our workplace, and we encourage employees to get involved with initiatives as set out within our policy including fundraising, volunteering, engagement with schools and the support of local festivals and events.
In 2018, to help us give back to the communities that we live and work in, Dawn Meats Group partnered with over 140 community organisations across Ireland, much of this driven by local site initiatives. Given our close links to agriculture and farming our primary focus was on supporting sustainable agriculture production by working with and through organisations such as European Roundtable for Sustainable Beef, Bord Bia, Macra na Feirme, Agricultural shows, Animal Health Ireland and the Origin Green Ambassador Programme. Ronald McDonald House Charity, local GAA clubs, Movember and other health and sporting bodies are among other organisations receiving support. Through these community links, our employees gave 321 volunteer hours and fundraised €13,884, in addition to company support of €234,110 in cash donations and €3,511 worth of in-kind donations.
