Tesco have been a member and a dedicated supporter of work placements for many years. 2016 was no different.

The management and staff have been extremely welcoming to all our work placements candidates. This year candidates undertook placements in Tesco Fleet Street, Jervis Shopping Centre and Parnell Street. Gavin Hennessy Career LEAP Project Manager notes “working with Tesco Ireland on our employment programmes has been easy from day one. The management have been open to taking new candidates, they strive to provide continuous support and feedback to clients – a testament to their positive corporate culture and strong CSR values”

Leon, a participant on the Career LEAP youth employability pilot programme, spent 3 weeks with Tesco for his work placement in August 2016. Embodying the phrase “hard work pays off”, Leon’s hard work and positive attitude were rewarded when he was offered a full-time contract at the end of his placement.

In Dublin’s Jervis Centre, Store Manager Miriam O’Shea hosted placements for two clients, one of whom, Shantelle, took to her role in the deli very quickly. The staff didn’t want to lose her, so before long they offered her a contract.

Parnell Street Store Manager Terry Creely provided work placement for our client Dermot. This was Dermots first work experience in over 10 years and a much needed stepping stone for returning to the workforce. “Dermot had a great attitude; he is self driven and not afraid to work hard, learns quickly and was always on time” Wayne Edwards, Assistant Manager, Tesco Parnell Street.

Tesco have shown to clients time and time again that candidates who show hard work, dedication and a positive attitude can succeed in gaining employment.

We look forward to building our positive work with Tesco Ireland in 2017
