Welcome to our 8th annual flagship Responsible Business Week!
Responsible Business Week is aimed at generating awareness around responsible and sustainable business practices in Ireland. It is the key time of the year for our members to get involved in communicating about their own CSR initiatives and plan activities to generate awareness with their key stakeholders.
This year the week will take place from the 10th to the 14th November and some of the member companies participating are A&L Goodbody, BT, Bord Gáis Networks, Intel, State Street and Three.
Responsible Business Week takes place over five days with each day themed under the various pillars of Corporate Responsibility: the well-being of staff for Workplace Day; what and how you communicate with your staff, consumers and other key stakeholders on CSR Communications Day; the impact you have in your community, Community Day; how you engage with your suppliers and how you inspire them, and your consumers, to be sustainable on Marketplace Day; and finally your environmental practices on Environment Day.
Some of our member companies have brilliant initiatives planned to raise awareness about the issues at the heart of their CSR programmes.
A&L Goodbody will use the week to showcase their CR initiatives internally and externally including the various achievements on their Step Up programme. On Environment Day A&L Goodbody will welcome the following organisation to showcase their products and services:
As Bord Gáis Networks engages in a major review of its community investment strategy, the company is consulting with staff through a Survey of Corporate Responsibility on Monday, 10th November on what the company should be supporting at community level. Staff views are also being sought on what Bord Gáis Networks can do to further enhance their commitment to responsibility across the business and on CR communications. Staff are being invited to support a food collection as part of Sodexo’s Stop Hunger campaign. Food donations will go to Barnardos supporting families in the Finglas and Cork City area.
Intel have communications and activities planned for each of the themed days such as providing Health Checks to employees on Workplace day and throughout the month of November. With Christmas around the corner on Community Day Intel will launch their Christmas Appeal for their Local St Vincent De Paul which involves donating a toy, Santa letters and a shoe box appeal. On Marketplace Day there will be a Product Expo on site highlighting conflict free microprocessors products and how employees can engage in the pursuit of conflict free minerals. A Phone recycling day will send the week for Intel on Environment Day.
State Street will hold community fairs at all sites to provide an opportunity to their employees to learn more about local and national community organisations. The events will also raise employee awareness of the support that State Street provides to the their communities.
Three are organising an information session for volunteers for the Schools’ Business Partnership Skills at Work programme and will raise awareness about their environmental programme.
