Exclusive Member Event: Wellness, Workplace and Nature March 22nd

Uncategorized - Mar 15, 2012

13th March 2012: We are all aware of the health benefits of sports and recreation but the health benefits that arise from our contact with nature are much less appreciated. However there is now strong anecdotal, theoretical and empirical evidence supporting the idea that contact with nature actively supports positive health and well-being. Research from Australia now indicates that nature plays a vital role in human health and well-being, and that parks and nature reserves play a significant part in this by providing access for people to nature.

In response to this exciting new research and as part of our Business Action on Health programme Business in the Community Ireland have partnered with Coillte to run a unique Environment/Workplace event called Wellness, Workplace and Nature. This one day event  on Thursday March 22nd includes a guided nature walk with a Coillte park ranger through Laragh Wood, Co Wicklow, a teambuilding work exercise on a piece of Mountain Trail and a discussion about the health benefits of bringing nature into the workplace.

Weather permitting this innovative event is scheduled for Thursday the 22nd of March. Participants will be asked to make their way to the Coillte head office at Newtownmountkennedy, Co. Wicklow for 9:00am. Tea, Coffee, Scones will be provided and an overview of the day’s activities will be given by Coillte staff. A mini bus will then transport us to one of Coillte’s forest trails in Laragh Co. Wicklow and a picnic lunch will also be provided.

The Wellness, Workplace and Nature event aims to highlight the real benefits of bringing nature into the workplace. This corporate wellbeing programme is principally for HR managers to experience a new offering by Coillte who are making some of Ireland’s best outdoor recreation locations accessible for workplace teams.
