What can the Business Working Responsibly Mark do for your business?

BITCI News - Apr 29, 2015

Some of Ireland’s leading businesses have been certified with the Business Working Responsibly Mark. The benefits are many including the internal benefits gained from the process itself which identifies risks, gaps and opportunities in operations and then the recognition that your company can gain externally when they actually achieve and become certified with the Mark.

The Business Working Responsibly Mark will:

  • Provide a management tool to assess your organisation’s operational risks and opportunities
  • Deliver a detailed assessment of gaps and a road-map of opportunities to excel
  • Allow you to benchmark your practices and performance among your peers
  • Provide independent verification by the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI) giving credibility and third-party endorsement of your practices
  • Prove your corporate responsibility and sustainability credentials in contracting processes and government tenders where key social and environmental criteria are used to select preferred bidders
  • Enhance investment potential as more and more investment houses and indices (e.g. Dow Jones Sustainability Index and FTSE4Good) want evidence of good corporate practice
  • The Mark can be used in marketing and promotional materials to endorse your Corporate Responsibility commitments to all stakeholders both internally and externally

What do CEOs think of the Mark?

Fintan Slye, Chief Executive, EirGrid

“For us it’s about ensuring CSR is embedded in the organisation….it is important to challenge ourselves to be best practice in CSR terms, and the Mark is the best way to do that”.

Pat O’Doherty, Chief Executive, ESB

“We were keen for external validation of all we do on sustainability and the Business Working Responsibly Mark provides that.  It highlighted our areas of strength and we have used it to communicate our achievements throughout the organisation.”
