Update about BITCI’s biodiversity photography competition

BITCI News - Jun 28, 2017

BITCI’s Biodiversity Photography Competition has been running for a few weeks now and the entries are flying in. Additionally, the feedback from our members has been great and because of this we have decided to extend the date for entries to the 31st of August 2017.

The categories have too been simplified from 3 to 2 (BUT don’t worry all entries so far will fit within one of these new categories) to make it easier for people to submit. The categories are as follows:

GENERAL BIODIVERSITY AND WILDLIFE

Photos of native species, endangered species and interactions between species, as well as photos that highlight topical conservation issues, will be especially favoured by the judges.

BIODIVERSITY AND YOUR BUSINESS

This can includes photos of anything from a pot of wildflowers in your office to a bird in a hedgerow on site, biodiversity on your commute from the window of a bus or train, on the side of the road, or along a greenway that you walk or cycle on your way to the office, or from biodiversity volunteering initiatives or the local area around your offices

I have included a poster that can be easily printed and distributed around the office OR sent within an email to all your employees. All the prizes will remain the same including: subscriptions to the Irish Wildlife Trust, Birdwatch Ireland, species identification swatches and Irish books on nature and ecology.

The winners will be announced at our FINAL ‘Biodiversity Learning Network’ in September 2017.  During this event we too will be holding an Environmental Fair, giving you the chance to connect with some of Irelands great Environmental NGO’s and see the opportunities they may have to assist you on your biodiversity journey.
