Q1- Network meeting (2)

We are delighted to announce our first network event in 2017 with the theme: Responsible Business in a Post-Truth World.

The event will be held on Wednesday 8th of February in KBC Bank head office in Dublin 2 and it will inform our members of the key trends shaping Irish society and the economy.

The debate will explore the role of responsible business and how that role can respond to the political and economic uncertainty.  The aim is to inform on  CSR/sustainability strategy in 2017 and beyond.

Last October, Jeffrey Sachs spoke to our CEO forum about ‘a world that seems profoundly uncertain and dangerous despite the fact that we are richer than ever before’.   Professor Sachs said Corporate Social Responsibility should mean ‘choosing hope, moving in a direction of decency, solving national problems and helping to solve international problems’.

How do we do that?  What problems can we hope to solve and, if we are currently doing all that we can, how can we hope to sustain that in the context of the economic uncertainty of Brexit and the political uncertainty at home and abroad?

Our panel of experts will be:

  • Austin Hughes, Chief Economist, KBC Bank Ireland
  • Katie Kent, Manager, Consulting, Deloitte
  • Jim Gannon, CEO, SEAI

The event relates to all the Sustainable Development Goals:
