eir Fund – Connecting Communities

BITCI News - Nov 07, 2016

In March of this year eir introduced a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) investment programme, the eir Fund – Connecting Communities. The Fund was designed to support eir employees who work with community engagement projects and to enable eir to do more to support charitable causes throughout Ireland. Over the past 8 months, eir has provided support to 12 registered charities from all across Ireland.

Chris White CEO NCBI: “NCBI will run an intensive IT training camp for children and young people who are blind or vision impaired next year, which would not be possible without the eir Fund. This camp will set our children up for success from education right through to employment. These camps, facilitated by the University of Limerick will enable children to learn the programmes available to them to assist with their education.”

Steven Daly, Camara Ireland Manager: “Working with Camara, eir will support 8 (DEIS) schools in low income areas in Leinster. We have developed a School ICT Framework, a programme dedicated to identifying the needs of a school, conducting a full-scale survey of the school to identify the level of technology use and train the teachers appropriately in areas such as Using Freeware in your Classroom, Google for Education, and An Introduction to Programming”

Stuart Coleman, open eir employee: “The support of the eir fund will have a significant impact on the services provided to LGBT people in the Connaught region. LGBT Helpline intends to create a ‘LGBT Connaught Guide’ and hold an event to launch the guide, a great opportunity to promote and advertise services and other LGBT supports in the Connaught region.  In addition the eir Fund will also enable LGBT helpline resource the Galway office to establish peer support group services for LGBT people and their family members in the local area”.
