Breaking down the barriers between business and education

BITCI News - Apr 28, 2014

The Management Excellence for Teachers (MET) is an innovative programme run by our Schools’ Business Partnership. Now in its fourth year of National roll-out, the programme continues to appeal to many businesses. Management Excellence for Teachers (MET) offers businesses the opportunity to deliver a 2 hour personal development session to a whole school staff. It’s a highly skilled volunteering opportunity which taps into the training & development expertise in Irish business. The training is generic, not education specific, and seeks to give teachers the tools to deal with classroom and staff room demands. An added bonus for everyone is breaking down the barriers between business and education and enabling the best in Irish business to impact on a hugely important and influential group in our community. As one teacher said at the first ever session, when J&J delivered a morning on vision and mission at St Ailbe’s in Tipperary “It made me realize we are all in the same boat, so we better start rowing!”

The programme is very much appreciated by Irish Secondary School teachers, below is some of the feedback received from sessioned delivered by some of our member companies:

The session allowed us to scratch the surface of some issues which need further discussion. Got us thinking about the issues that need/ warrant attention.”
