BITC Ireland becomes the first Irish business association signatory to the UN Global Compact

BITCI News - Jun 21, 2012

Business in the Community Ireland represents Ireland at a European level on corporate responsibility through our membership of CSR Europe and we are constantly looking at further expanding the international reach of our business network.

Therefore we are delighted to announce that Business in the Community Ireland has been chosen to become a signatory to the UN Global Compact.

The United Nations Global Compact is a strategic policy initiative for businesses that are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption. The UN Global Compact is the world’s largest corporate responsibility initiative with over 8,000 business and non-business participants in 135 countries.

As participants in the Global Compact we will be promoting the ten principles and taking part in the activities of the Global Compact Local Network which include collaborative initiatives, events and partnership projects. Should your business wish to consider participating in the UN Global Compact, Business in the Community Ireland would be more than happy to help you in the process. Business participants are required to publically commit to the principles and to make an annual Communication on Progress , a public disclosure to stakeholders (e.g., investors, consumers, civil society, governments, etc.) on progress made in implementing the ten principles of the UN Global Compact, and in supporting broad UN development goals.
