Sodexo announces its third 2007 Corporate Citizenship Report
Business in the Community Ireland member, Sodexo, one of Ireland's largest food and facilities management providers, has published its UK and Ireland Corporate Citizenship Report for 2007. The report, which is Sodexo's third, identifies key issues facing the company with respect to social, environmental and economic impacts and charts challenges and progress. Margaret Clapham, Sodexo Ireland's business development director, said: “Our Corporate Citizenship Report seeks to provide stakeholders with an insight into how we focus on the issues where we have the greatest social and environmental impacts and which are core to our business.” The report also outlines Sodexo's commitments for 2008, which include the roll-out of a certified nutrition training programme for supervisory and management teams, continuing diversity education for management and staff, the launch of a diversity policy and charter of inclusion; a drive on sustainable procurement including reductions in food packaging and an increase the purchase of locally sourced products to reduce food delivery miles. Said Tina Roche, chief executive of Business in the Community Ireland, “We welcome Sodexo's new Corporate Citizenship Report and are delighted to see more and more of our members communicating on what they do in the area of corporate responsibility. We especially congratulate Sodexo on adopting the Global Reporting Index (GRI) sustainability reporting framework for the first time and hope it will inspire other Irish companies to consider using this reporting tool”.
