Launch of the Ulster bank Sir George Quigley Award 2010 The Ulster Bank Sir George Quigley Award Fund is an annual award available throughout Ireland that aims to help the community and voluntary sector reach sustainability. The Ulster Bank Sir George Quigley Award Fund, which began in April 2002, recognises the contribution of Sir George Quigley over 13 years as Chairman of Ulster Bank Group. On 1st February Ulster Bank launched the 2010 Award. This year the award fund has been increased to €10,000 (or sterling equivalent) and is open to applicants working in the community and voluntary sector across the island of Ireland. What will be supported? Guidelines for examples of work that can be considered for the Award are: •The development of community business •The encouragement of innovative approaches to volunteering •New community and voluntary based approaches to the social economy •New ideas that offer the community and voluntary sector strategies for organisational sustainability How much will the award be worth? The successful organisation will receive €10,000 (or sterling equivalent) to implement their plans. How to apply? Applications are now being accepted from suitable community and voluntary groups from the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland for this award.
