BITCI News - Jan 28, 2015

Davy Group and its employees have announced a three year community partnership as part of their Corporate Responsibility programme helping people in the areas of:

  • Homelessness
  • Inspiring Young People
  • Helping Street & Slum Children in Kolkata

The community partnerships will provide both financial support as well as volunteering.  The specific charities that Davy will partner in 2015 are:

A Collaborative Initiative Amongst Homelessness Charities

Homelessness strips people of dignity, independence and autonomy. Today homelessness is no longer viewed solely as a housing problem. Research shows that poor access to employment, training and lack of educational qualifications contribute to people’s risk of homelessness. Dublin Simon, Focus Ireland, Peter McVerry Trust and the Ready for Work Programme have come together to tackle these issues of homelessness.

SOAR Foundation

Soar is a collective movement which believes that there is greatness within all young people. Soar act on this by creating and delivering early intervention-preventative wellness workshops inside and outside of the school system for young people aged 12 to 18 years from all backgrounds. Soar programs begin by developing an awareness of what influences us and stops us all from being free to be who we want to be

HOPE Foundation

Over 250,000 children go to sleep each night on the streets and in the slums of Kolkata hungry without shelter or protection. HOPE was established in 1999 by Irish humanitarian, Maureen Forrest, to improve the lives of these children. Over the past 15 years, HOPE has grown from just one girls protection home to an extended network of projects covering primary healthcare, education centres and life skills training projects.
